World history is replete with leaders, that upon reflection, wish they could do stupid over. Sadaam Hussien, while hiding in hole in Iraq, more than likely regreted his initial stupid decision to invade Kuwait. Noriega had more than twenty-years in jail to reflect on his decision not to negotiate differences with the US Government. Khadaffi would probably like to have back the option to leave Libya instead of leaving the planet. I could go on for hours with these examples, but will move to the present situation in the US Congress.
The US House of Representatives willingness to default on the debt ceiling is in a league of its own. Yes the near-brights are going to do the super-stupid. The stupidity of the aforementioned leaders dulls in comparison to the House T-Nuts. Why is this so? Because the regrettable end these leaders experienced was likely, but not as clearly discernible as the outcome of a default.
The super-stupids are intent on immediately destroying the US credit rating, wrecking the US economy in a way much more significant than the result of not doing things their way. Once they do it, The T-nut leverage is gone, fini, caput! Now they have created unbearable chaos and financial pain on everyone. That includes those low info voters that sent them to Washington to fix things. The phones of the stupids will be ringing of the proverbial hook. The low info voter will want the pain to stop.
The super-stupids upon reflection; finally realizing what they have really done, and knowing that it can not be undone will probably wish that they could rent Sadaam Hussien's dirt-hole.
